Eibon

Biography

Eibon is a French Doom / Sludge Metal act featuring Drowning‘s bass player, Stéphane Riviere and guitarist, Georges Balafas on vocals. Along with Jérome Lachaud, who was Stéphane’s former bandmate and drummer in the French legendary Doom Metal pioneer Garden Of Silence. Jérome was also part of the Doom veterans Astral Rising. The line-up was completed by long-time friend Max Hedin on guitars.

In March 2007, Eibon releases a split CD with Hangman’s Chair on Bones Brigade records. Critics and feedback are really positive and the split CD is sold-out within six months. This first effort already gave an idea of what Eibon is all about: somewhere between agressive Sludge and heavy Doom Metal with a very dark feeling reminding some crushing and heavy Death Metal. The music is based on progressive structures, alternating pounding heavy riffs and melody.

In February 2008, Eibon’s back with two new promo-tracks, recorded in October 2007 in the same studio and mixed by Andrew G. (Glorior Belli, Temple Of Baal). These two new tracks reflect the band’s evolution: progressive parts are longer and more complex while agressive parts are even harsher. Meanwhile, Eibon has been regularly seen on stage in 2007. Each time, the band received very positive responses from the audience.

Late 2008, Aesthetic Death signs Eibon and releases the two promo tracks as their debut, untitled, EP. The debut album, “Entering Darkness”, is released on the same label on early 2010 while a split EP with HKY (on MusicFearSatan) is planned for later that same year.
