Hangman's-Chair

Biography

Hangman’s Chair was born out of France’s Es La Guerilla’s demise. Keeping the same themes, the five piece combo peeks through our vices and dark sides. The filthy moisture of the guitars, the unhealthy heaviness of the rhythm section, drug experiencing and depression are still dealt and dealt with throughout the music. But from now on it will be hand in hand with a more personal and melodic singing.

Since it’s inception, the band has been picked up by Bones Brigade records who put out their debut release, a split CD with France’s Eibon in 2007, soon followed by the band’s debut full-length album, “(a lament for) The addict”.

After the passing of one of the band’s guitarists (Sid Ahmed, RIP) and some other line-up changes, Hangman’s Chair released “Leaving Paris”, their second effort, still through Bones Brigade records. Extremely darker and intricating yet utterly catchy despite its melancholy, “Leaving Paris” is, so far, not only the band’s best album, but for sure one of the best around when it comes to Stoner / Doom Metal !
