Misery Index was born in 2001 as a studio project mostly made of (ex-) Dying Fetus members. “Overthrow,” their debut CD, was unleashed in September of ’01 (Anarchosà. Upon hearing the band’s stuff, Bones Brigade records immediately offered them to take part to a forthcoming four seats split CD meant to promote promising young bands within the Death Metal realm, among which newcomers were Aborted, Brodequin and Drowning. It resulted in 2001′s “Created to kill”, which features two Misery Index songs.
The band’s following release was a split EP with Commit Suicide (Willowtip). 2003 saw the release of a split EP with Structure Of Lies, and the recording of Misery Index’s second album, entitled “Retaliate” (Nuclear Blast). In 2004, the band released a live DVD (Anarchos) soon followed the recording of the “Dissent” EP.
In 2005, Misery Index recorded its first new material with the new lineup. Two tracks from the recording session, an early version of “Conquistadores” and a cover of Napalm Death’s “Walls of Confinement”, were released on a split 7” with Japan’s Bathtub Shitter (Emetic). ”Discordia”, the band’s next full-length, saw a May 2006 release (Relapse). In early 2007, Misery Index recorded the “Hang ‘em high” 7” while in early 2008, Misery Index was ready head home and begin recording for their third full-length release, “Traitors” which was released on September (Relapse).
2010 is a busy year for the band that released both “Pulling out the nails” (Anarchos), a compilation of all of their non-album material, as well as “Heirs to thievery” (Relapse), the new album.
