The struggle is real for oily skinned people. Oily skin is not the ideal skin type by any means and is one of the major causes of anxiety and depression in teenagers.
Sebaceous glands are present right under the surface of the skin, and they are the glands that are responsible for the production of oil. In the case of those who have oily skin, their sebaceous glands produce more sebum than required.
Anyone can have oily skin: those with freckled white skin, shiny, unique olive skin or dark, bronze tone.
By the way, sebum isn’t bad at all (as most of our people think) because sebum is responsible not only for the moisturizing of your skin but also for keeping your hair healthy.
We are not only going to let you know about those issues but how to treat them as well:
1. Blackheads on the face
Blackheads are the results of excessive sebum. Sebum can collect your hair follicle’s base in your skin. As soon as the sebum touches the air, oxidization occurs, and blackheads are produced.
Nobody likes to go outside with blackheads on the face, and this can be very irritating for oily skin. A face treatment is recommended in order to keep blackheads away. Benzoyl peroxide can help breakdown the oil.
2. Oily Bangs
Over-production of sebum not only affects your skin, but it will have a negative impact on your hair too. Do you experience oily and greasy bangs? It is suggested to pin them sideways during the daytime.
By doing this, you will be able to keep the oil away from your strands. Hair is one of the important parts of your personality, and at least you can control the greasiness even though you have oily skin.
3. Enlarged Pores
This is one of the worst issues that is associated with people who have oily skin. The larger the pores, the more will be the production of oil. People who have oily skin will have pores around the T-zone (nose, chin, and forehead).
These pores cannot be removed completely, but some clarifying toners and exfoliant can minimize them. Some of the reasons for these enlarged pores are weight malfunction and previous breakouts.
4. Makeup slides off every-now-and-then
Those who have oily skin, it is almost impossible for them to keep makeup on their face for an entire day. Makeup tends to slide off from the skin due to the presence of oil, and this is one of the biggest concerns of people who have oily skin.
One can use a mattifying primer or setting powder to lock your base on your face. Oily skinned people cannot use any cream on the skin, unless or until they are ready to use a powder to stick that cream for a long-lasting look.
5. Occasional or persistent pimples
Who likes to go outside with pimples all over the face? Oily skin is the result of excessive sebum production. It is healthy to have sebum, but the over-production of sebum can produce clogged pores and issues related to acne.
People who have oily skin will have to bear occasional pimples of persistent pimples. Do you know the worst part? These pimples will show right before a special event.
6. There’s always a need of drying out your skin
Drying your skin out seems a good idea? Isn’t it? What if we tell you that the glands of your body will be triggered by stripping your skin? This produces more oil, which is why the oily skinned individual cannot completely dry their skin.
However, well-balanced and hydrated skin is the way to go. One needs to accept that he/she has oily skin, and there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it. Keeping your skin hydrated can make you look more attractive.
7. Oily face again shortly after cleansing
It can be very frustrating for someone to do cleansing again and again. No matter how often you cleanse your face, you will experience oily skin shortly after doing it. It is in your hormones that your skin will keep on producing oil no matter what the situation is.
However, if you want to moderate your skin’s oil production, make sure to use gentle and water-based cleansers. Foaming cleansers cannot do the job for you, as they will stimulate your body to produce more oil.
Once you switch from foaming cleansers to water-based cleansers, you will be able to keep your oil production moderate.
As an individual, you have to accept your skin type. It can be difficult for you to find a suitable makeup for your skin, or how to keep your skin dry, but that’s what it is.
Even though you have been suffering from blackheads, pimples, and issues related to acne every now and then, but you can take care of your skin by doing the right things as discussed above.
