In a series of heart-wrenching photos, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend share the loss of their third child, Jack.
Chrissy Teigen suffered a pregnancy loss Wednesday, three days after she was hospitalized for bleeding issues.
Teigen, 34, posted a heartbreaking hospital room photo on Instagram announcing that her unborn child, a boy, had died.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
Teigen, has two children with John Legend (Luna, 4, and Miles, 2). She wrote that the couple previously “never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack.”
“So he will always be Jack to us,” she wrote. “Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
Legend, 41, retweeted the Instagram post writing: “We love you Jack.”

Later Teigen tweeted, “Driving home from the hospital with no baby. How can this be real?”
Teigen had announced she was pregnant in August. Taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday, Teigen had been reassuring fans all week through a myriad of updates to her social media accounts, filling in her more than 31 million Instagram followers on her condition.
“Hello from hospital. about to have my second blood transfusion which truly truly truly sounds more dramatic than it is,” she wrote Monday.
On Wednesday she wrote to Jack, saying, “I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
Teigen said she was grateful for her two “wonderful babies” and for “all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine.”
She ended her post with a vow.
“On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it,” Teigen wrote.
