High Tide Nutrition opens in downtown Bradenton

Tanya Sherlock and Tiffany Clark, a mother-and-daugher team, recently opened High Tide Nutrition at 536 13th St. W., in downtown Bradenton.

High Tide Nutrition has taken over the space formerly occupied by The Daily Dose Juice Garden, a cold-press juice bar. But rather than juice, High Tide Nutrition sells shakes and teas made of Herbalife products.

Herbalife Nutrition is a global nutrition company, whose products include protein shakes and bars, teas, aloe, vitamins and sports hydration products.

High Tide Nutrition started as a home-based business, but quickly outgrew its space. “We happened to be looking for retail space. This was available, so we took over her lease and here we are,” Sherlock said.

Clark was living in New Mexico while her husband was deployed with the U. S. Air Force in Africa, and became interested in nutrition stores after seeing so many of them in Clovis.

“In New Mexico, they are on every corner like Walgreen’s,” Sherlock said.

The shakes are protein based, and come in a variety of flavors, including nutty, banana, fruity, candy, coffee, cookie, cereal, dessert, and chocolate. But that hardly does the categories justice. Within each category, there are several subcategories. Candy, for instance, has Almond Joy, Babe Ruth, Butterfinger, Chic O Stick, Reese’s Cup (a best seller), Snickers and Starburst.

Shelby Welch, and her husband, Frank Welch were repeat customers at High Tide Nutrition this week. One had ordered a Reese’s Cup shake from the candy menu, and the other had ordered a Red Velvet Cake shake off the dessert menu.

“I love the variety. There is always something new to try,” Shelby said.

Frank added: “And, also, the shakes taste amazing. Whatever it is labeled as, it tastes exactly like that. And the customer service is spot on and really great.”

Dawon Hall was making his first visit to High Tide Nutrition.

“I’m drinking the Witches Brew (one of the tea offerings), and I have had the Banana Pudding shake. This shake spot is a very good spot. It’s very nutritious, very healthy and I will definitely be back here,” Hall said.

A 24- ounce shake or 24-ounce tea sells for $6. A 32-ounce mega tea sells for $10. A 24-ounce shake and a 24-ounce tea sells for $11. A 24-ounce shake and a 32-ounce mega tea sells for $14.

“The protein is really what keeps everything nice. It’s going to make you full, and healthy. They have 21 vitamins and nutrients. They are a good source of fiber and are sugar free. And they are good for you,” Clark said.

High Tide Nutrition is open 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday.
