The National Hurricane Center is tracking a system in the western Caribbean that could become a tropical depression later this week.

1. A broad area of low pressure is expected to form over the western Caribbean Sea in the next few days.

How likely is it to strengthen?

1. Disturbance 1: A tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend.

  • Formation chance through 48 hours: near 0%
  • Formation chance through 5 days: 50%

Who is likely to be impacted?

It’s too early at this time to determine whether Florida will feel the impact from the system in the western Caribbean. Forecasters advise all residents to stay informed and be prepared during this very active hurricane season.
